Grimsby Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of the young attacking midfielder Zak Gilsenan, on a two-year deal.
The 22-year-old Australian-born midfielder makes the move to Blundell Park on a free transfer after six years with Blackburn Rovers.
Gilsenan has had a unique career path as a young footballer, having previously spent time on the books of FC Barcelona between 2012-2014 at the world-renowned La Masia Academy, before moving to Premier League giants, Liverpool.
Gilsenan joined Blackburn Rovers academy as an under 16 and went on to make over 75 appearances for their u18s and u23s before featuring for their First Team.
The Australian-born midfielder is eligible to play for the Republic of Ireland and has made four appearances between the u19s and u21s, scoring twice.
Speaking about his newest addition to the squad, David Artell said, “We are really pleased that Zak’s decided to join us, he’s a player we’ve had our eyes on for a while.”
“He’s a really good player with a lot of potential, excellent on the ball and we are really excited to start working with him.”
On putting pen to paper with the Mariners, Gilsenan said, “I’m delighted to sign for this Club, I can’t wait to play in front of all the fans and show you what I can do!”
Zak is proudly sponsored by Urban Bathrooms & Kitchens for the upcoming campaign.
