We are delighted to announce that Charles Vernam has signed a new contract with the Club, keeping him at Blundell Park until the summer of 2027, with an option to extend the deal by a further year.
Since returning to North East Lincolnshire in June 2023, Vernam has once again become a key figure in black and white. The winger has made 40 appearances in all competitions this season, registering nine goals and 12 assists, while continuing to deliver in the biggest moments.
From his Goal of the Month contenders, to decisive league winners on the road at Meadow Lane, Vernam has repeatedly shown his quality in the final third.
He also etched his name further into club folklore on that unforgettable Carabao Cup night under the lights at Blundell Park, opening the scoring as the Mariners knocked Manchester United out of the competition in front of a packed house.
Earlier this season, his goal and assist helped secure a superb away victory at Salford City, while his late winner against Notts County underlined his ability to produce when it matters most.
Across the 2025/26 League Two campaign, Vernam has contributed seven goals and eight assists in 33 appearances, creating 65 chances and playing a pivotal role in Town’s attacking output.
Head coach David Artell said:
“We’re delighted to extend Charles’ contract. He’s had an outstanding season and his new deal is fully deserved. He’s been consistent, as well as improved throughout the season, and we’re delighted he’s going to be staying here for an extended period. We hope that he continues his form, not just for the rest of this season but for the remainder of his new contract as well.”
On signing his new deal, Vernam added:
“I’m buzzing. I love this football club, and I feel like I’m playing some of the best football of my career here.
“The fans have been unbelievable with me, and I want to keep repaying that support. We’ve got something special building and I’m excited to see where it takes us.”
