Town keeper James McKeown is amongst the October nominations for the
Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month Award.
The Town stopper had four clean sheets in five games for a keeper at his shot-stopping best in October. Acrobatic as ever, he made a series of saves against Colchester and Crewe as well as a spectacular penalty stop to preserve a draw against Exeter.
The other players nominated are:
Chuks Aneke (MK Dons) – striker
Four goals in six games for the forward whose consistency in front of goal helped his side into the automatic promotion places. With the strength to outmuscle defenders, he also exudes calmness when a chance comes along.
Reece Brown (Forest Green Rovers) – midfielder
Whether as a defensive shield or a progressive force behind the strikers, the skilful 22-year-old has been central to Forest Green’s impressive form. Three assists to go with picture-perfect goals against promotion rivals Tranmere and Exeter.
Nicky Maynard (Bury) – striker
Has brought his pace and class to League Two. Brimful of confidence, he scored five of Bury’s eight goals in the month. None encapsulated his talents better than a brilliant swivel, driving run and clinical fish against Newport.
The winner will be announced early on Friday morning.
