Referee Watch | Edwards Takes Charge Of His First Town Game

Marc Edwards will be the man with the whistle at Carlisle United on Saturday.

In what is Edwards’ first season on the EFL list of referees, the Tyne and Wear-based official will take charge of a Town game for the very first time following his promotion to the National List of Referees in the summer.

Mr Edwards has experience in the EFL prior to this season though, first starting as an assistant referee before opting to drop back down to the National League with the whistle, where he remained for two years before being promoted back.

Last season, he took charge 21 National League matches and one FA Cup match, showing 72 yellow cards and one red. So far this season, in the 15 matches he has refereed, he has shown 33 Yellow Cards and one Red Card.

He will be assisted by Barry Gordon and Mark Cunliffe, the Fourth Official will be Rebecca Welch.
