Cumberland referee Anthony Backhouse will take charge of Saturday afternoon’s clash with Bury at Gigg Lane (3pm).
Mr Backhouse was promoted from the National League in 2017, becoming the first referee in his area to reach that level in over 40 years.
He last officiated Town in last season’s 2-0 defeat against Morecambe at Blundell Park, prior to that it was way back in December 2013 in a 1-1 draw with Welling, where a 96th minute equaliser from Dayle Southwell saved a point for the Mariners.
Blackhouse has handed out 16 yellow cards and no Reds in seven games this season.
He will be assisted by Joe Clark and Richard Woodward. The Fourth Official will be Barry Cropp.
