Grimsby Town Football Club is delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to join the Club as a Community Engagement Officer through the Off-Pitch Pathway Scheme (OPPS).
Working across both Grimsby Town Foundation and the Club’s Marketing & Communications department, the successful candidate will play an important role in strengthening the connection between the football club and the local community, helping to showcase the positive impact of the Foundation’s work while using the power of football to inspire, educate and engage people of all ages and backgrounds.
The role has been funded through the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) and English Football League (EFL) Off-Pitch Pathway Scheme (OPPS), an initiative designed to help former players and scholars transition into meaningful long-term careers away from the pitch.
Administered by League Football Education (LFE), the programme provides funded 12-month placements across EFL clubs, offering valuable workplace experience in a range of professional football environments.
The successful applicant will gain hands-on experience within both a professional football club and charitable foundation, developing a broad range of transferable skills while making a genuine difference within the local community.
Key responsibilities will include supporting the delivery and promotion of Grimsby Town Foundation programmes, creating engaging content across digital platforms, working with partner organisations, increasing awareness of the Foundation’s work and acting as an ambassador for both the Club and Foundation across the community.
The role will also provide valuable experience across community engagement, stakeholder management, content creation, social media, communications and matchday operations.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual with a passion for football and community development, excellent communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of audiences.
Applicants should have knowledge of social media platforms, strong organisational skills, a flexible approach to work and access to a vehicle with a full driving licence.
The position is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 12 months, offering a salary of £24,785 per annum alongside a range of employee benefits including:
