Match Preview: Northampton Town

Team News

Caretaker boss Anthony Limbrick is hoping that top-scorer James Hanson will be fit to face the Cobblers on Saturday afternoon. Hanson missed the midweek defeat at Newport with a calf problem.

Luke Hendrie (hamstring), Max Wright (thigh) and Moses Ogbu (knee) are all expected to miss the trip to the PTS Academy Stadium.

With Mattie Pollock suspended following his late dismissal at Rodney Parade, Limbrick will be hoping that Ludvig Öhman has recovered from the late bout of sickness that forced him to sit out the FA Cup tie at Rodney Parade.

Head to Head

The Mariners have got the better of the Cobblers six times in the last 17 games. Northampton have won five of those 17 games and the rest have been drawn.

Cobbler’s frontman Andy Williams is the man to keep a close eye on at the PTS Academy Stadium. Andy already has six goals and one assist to his name this season.

Sam Hoskins and Jordan Turnbull both have four goals apiece also.

The Managers

Anthony Limbrick

“We have had a good training session with the squad. We have had a look at some video and also got them out on the training ground.

“There has been time to prepare for this game. Northampton are a very good side and Keith Curle has got them going well at the moment. They are six games unbeaten in all competitions.“

Keith Curle

“Our respect for the opposition doesn’t change and Grimsby will have strengths and weaknesses like any other side we play,” Keith told the Official Northampton Town Website.

“Because of the strikers they’ve got, they can cause any team in this division problems.

“They played very well in the first half against Newport on Wednesday night and despite the changes they have had in the last week or so that doesn’t take away from the fact that they have got some very good players.”
