We are delighted to announce that Brian Nicholson has been appointed to the Grimsby Town board of directors, replacing Dave Roberts who has stepped down to spend more time with his family.
The Mariners Trust board member joins Kristine Green as one of the two fan-elected representatives on the Grimsby Town Board along with co-owners Jason Stockwood and Andrew Petitt and CEO Debbie Cook.
Brian Nicholson is a life-long Mariners supporter and long-time season ticket holder who has held a similar position on the Mariners Trust board for the last three years.
After officially joining the board, Brian said, “As someone who’s supported the Mariners for my whole life, it’s an honour to become a member of the GTFC Board.
“I’m looking forward to representing our fans and also assisting the Club in many ways in my new role alongside Kristine Green.
“I’d also like to put on record my thanks to Dave Roberts for everything he has done over the years for the Mariners Trust and GTFC.”
Dave Roberts has been a member of the Mariners Trust since 2003 when it was first formed as Grimsby Town Supporters Trust and has been actively involved at board level for most of the last 20 years. Dave has twice held a position on the Grimsby Town Board with his most recent stint lasting just over four years.
“It’s been a pleasure to represent the fans as a member of the board over the years,” Dave said.
“I’m very proud of all that has been achieved over the years particularly Operation Promotion, the introduction of the Fanzone, the development of a Junior Supporters Club and more recently the fundraising to help supporters get to the play-off final in 2022.
“I will still be managing the Disabled Supporters’ Travel Club and also helping out the Mariners Trust in the background on memberships so people will still see me around the Club.
“I’d like to wish Brian well in the role and I hope he enjoys representing the fans as much as I have.”
Reacting to the board switch, CEO Debbie Cook added, “We would like to officially welcome Brian Nicholson to the Grimsby Town FC board and wish him well with his important role representing Mariners supporters.
“On behalf of everyone at the Club, I’d also like to place on record our heart-felt thanks to Dave Roberts for 20 years’ of loyal service.
“The improvements to fan-representation and the matchday experience over the last few years are testament to the hard work and commitment of people like Dave and the team of volunteers in the Mariners Trust.
“We would like to sincerely thank Dave for all of the voluntary hours he’s put it over the years, wish him well with his newfound freedom, but look forward to still seeing him at Blundell Park”.
