Clifton recognised for his work in the community

Harry Clifton has been recognised as ‘One of Our Own’, as part of the Premier League Supports campaign.

The Town midfielder was nominated by the Club and Grimsby Town Sports & Education Trust (GTSET) because of his long-term commitment to the Mariners and contribution to our community.

A regular supporter of initiatives run by GTSET, Clifton is a real role model for youngsters in Grimsby and Cleethorpes and was the obvious choice as our selection.

GTSET CEO Jo Schofield said: “Harry has been chosen for this as he is committed to supporting the community and has a real passion for the area he grew up in.

“He started his football career here and Harry has made over 200 appearances for Grimsby Town and, as the supporters sing, he really is One of Our Own!”

The Premier League Supports campaign is taking place during the first nine days of April and highlights the impact of Premier League investment on communities and wider football.

Grimsby Town is one of ninety professional football clubs who run weekly Premier League Kicks and Primary Stars sessions, supporting many young people to achieve their potential in North East Lincolnshire.

The Premier League also provided over 5,500 grants to improve the stadiums and facilities of 1,030 clubs in the EFL, National League system and the Women’s Football Pyramid.

Our football club, through (GTSET) received a grant of £19,000 to fund the creation of the Family Fanzone which has enhanced the matchday experience at Blundell Park.

We would like to thank Harry for all of his brilliant community work and congratulate him on his much-deserved award.

He is definitely ‘One of Our Own’.
