We are delighted to announce the permanent signing of wide midfielder, Darragh Burns, from fellow Sky Bet League Two side, MK Dons.
The Irishman moves to Blundell Park on a deal until the summer of 2028 for an undisclosed fee, subject to the relevant clearance.
The 22-year-old came through the youth system at St Patrick’s Athletic, going on to make 54 appearances for the League of Ireland Premier Division side where he also picked up the Young Player of the Season and Goal of the Season during his time at Richmond Park.
Burns joined MK Dons in 2022 and played 22 times for the Buckinghamshire club in League One during the 2022-23 campaign.
The former Irish U21 international joined Shamrock Rovers on loan in January 2024 and played 40 times, scoring five times, for the League of Ireland side, including appearances in their recent Europa League campaign.
On the arrival of Burns, Head Coach David Artell said, “We’re delighted that Darragh chose to come to us over other competition. He’ll provide strength and depth in the wide forward positions. We’ve been tracking him for some time and have been impressed. He’s technically proficient, particularly in the final third with excellent crossing, good delivery from both feet and he has an eye for goal, too.”
Hear from our new man in an exclusive interview on Mariners TV later today.
Welcome to the Club, Darragh!
