Town boss Michael Jolley was pleased with the performance of his players and with the number of chances his created on the night.
Speaking straight after the game, he said: “I thought it was a good performance.
“We put a lot into the game, and I thought to come here and score two good goals was really pleasing, and the number of other chances we created was excellent.
“It’s disappointing in the end that we weren’t able to take something from a game where we did very well for long periods.
“I thought our shape was excellent through most of the game. They’ve got some good players, so they’re going to create some chances.
Seven changes were made by Michael Jolley following Saturday’s defeat to Mansfield Town.
He added: “I thought there were some excellent performances. They’ve all been chomping at the bit to try and get into the team, and tonight was a good opportunity to show where they’re at physically and also with their form.
“Some of the lads who came into the team, and also some of the lads who came off the bench, did themselves a lot of favours.”
