Gnahoua signs on a one-year deal!

We are delighted to confirm the signing of Arthur Gnahoua on a one-year deal!

Born in Grenoble, France, the 31-year-old has spent the last week training with the Mariners and has now agreed terms for the upcoming campaign. Capable of playing in a number of attacking positions, he gives manager Paul Hurst further options towards the top of the pitch as we get set to prepare for the upcoming campaign.

He has worked with Hurst before after our manager signed him for Shrewsbury Town in May 2017, making a free transfer move from Kidderminster Harriers after impressing with the non-league side. Spells on loan with Fylde, as well as permanent moves to Carlisle United and Macclesfield Town, followed before he signed for Bolton Wanderers in 2020 – a club he spent part of his younger years with.

Most recently, he has enjoyed two seasons with Morecambe in Sky Bet League One and, after being released at the end of the 2022/23 season, Gnahoua has now signed for the Mariners.

On bringing him to the Club, Hurst said: “Arthur is a player I’ve worked with before at Shrewsbury when I signed him in League One. He stepped up from the Conference North and didn’t look out of place there. He was regularly in the squad and often contributed from the bench.

“He’s a very good technical player with a very good first touch and he can play anywhere in the wide areas or as a number ten behind the striker. He can create and score a goal as well so I’m pleased to have got him on board. He’s been involved and playing at a higher level over the last couple of seasons at Morecambe as well as at Bolton when they got promoted out of League Two.

“Arthur brings a bit of experience, as well, with his age and I’m looking forward to working with him again.”

Gnahoua added: “I’ve worked with the gaffer before so, obviously, it was a no-brainer. I’m really happy that he signed me for this club. I know how he works so yeah, I’m happy to be here and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
