Grimsby Town Women v Louth Old Boys – Postponed

Grimsby Town Women’s Lincolnshire League fixture against Louth Old Boys at Oasis Academy Wintringham on Sunday has been postponed.

Speaking about the postponement, manager Dale Houlston said: “It is massively frustrating when a game has to be cancelled because a club cannot field a team. Louth have 23 registered players, but we are told that only eight of those are available.”

When asked if the fixture will be re-arranged Dale said: “Look I hope so, but that is a decision for the League committee to make, and we have been told it will be discussed at a league committee meeting in November.

“For my part I have asked the league not to award us the points and to simply give us another date on which the game can be played. I’ve also requested that Louth aren’t punished with any fines for not being able to fulfil a fixture, but that is a decision outside of my control.

“But I can’t see there is anything to be gained in the interest of developing women’s football in the area by giving them a fine and awarding us the points. Neither do we want to be looking back at the end of the season, possibly with a scenario where we got promoted without playing all of the games.

“I’d sooner we are promoted having fully earned the right to stake a claim in Tier 6. So fingers crossed that on this occasion, Louth are allowed to play us again later on, as the communication from their manager seems absolutely genuine as to why they only have eight players available, so fingers crossed.”

News regarding the outcome of the postponement will be issued as soon as we hear from the league regarding the decision.
