An update regarding the future of a number of GTFC players

Grimsby Town Football Club can confirm that defensive duo, Reece Hall-Johnson and Alex Whitmore will be leaving the club.  

Hall-Johnson signed for The Mariners following a successful trial period in October 2017 and made a total of 43 appearances for the club.  

Whitmore became Michael Jolley’s first signing of the summer transfer window, joining from Chesterfield in May 2018. In total, Whitmore made 35 appearances for the club, scoring one goal in our 2-1 away defeat at Notts County. 

We can also confirm that the option to extend Harry Davis’ contract will be taken by the club. In his first season at The Mariners, Davis made 38 appearances scoring 4 goals. 

Finally, we can confirm that goalkeeper, Sam Russell remains in discussions with the club about his future. 

We would like to thank Reece and Alex for their efforts during their time at the club and wish them all the best in the remainder of their careers.
