We are delighted to announce the appointment of Joe Hutchinson as the Club’s new Head of Recruitment Analysis.
Hutchinson joins the Mariners from Lincolnshire rivals Lincoln City where he held a similar position with the Imps for the last three years.
The former Lindsey School pupil and Grimsby Town Academy player began his career in football at Hull City as their first team analyst back in 2014 before joining the FA to work predominately with the National Team’s U17s and 18s. Hutchinson worked with the U17s at the 2016 Euros just a few months before the Three Lions went on to lift the U17s World Cup in October 2017.
He moved to Lincoln City in January 2020 and quickly rose to the position of Head of Recruitment & Performance Analysis with the League One club. While at Sincil Bank, Joe was responsible for identifying potential transfer targets and overseeing their analysis department.
Speaking of the new addition to his backroom staff, Town boss Paul Hurst said:
“I’m delighted to welcome Joe to the Club. He comes very highly recommended, having worked with Steve Croudson in the past at a couple of clubs. Steve couldn’t speak highly enough of him, as others have done as well.
“When I met Joe, it was obvious he has a vast depth of knowledge of players and his position is another indication of the Club developing, thanks to Jason and Andrew.
“As well as utilising the scouting platforms, he will also look at data sets for players and will do traditional live scouting.
“He has a large database of players who we are already in discussions about in terms of potential players ahead of the January window and beyond that.
“I’m looking forward to working with Joe and I think he’s delighted to be joining his hometown club. He’s already settled in really well and together hopefully we can be successful.”
Welcome to Grimsby Town, Joe.
