Town’s Youth Team produced an excellent second-half comeback to beat Blackpool 3-2 on the road on Saturday.
Town found themselves two goals down during a difficult opening half, but showed great character after the break to turn the game around and claim all three points.
The hosts made the perfect start as Roberts was called into action early on, with the goalkeeper making a save only for the rebound to fall kindly to a Blackpool forward, who tapped into an empty net to put the Seasiders ahead.
Town gradually settled into the game and began to establish a foothold, but Blackpool doubled their advantage midway through the first half when a cross was met by a forward who headed home to make it 2-0.
The Mariners continued to battle and were rewarded for their efforts just before the interval when Manyika’s pass picked out Sharp, who kept his composure to slot the ball past the Blackpool goalkeeper and halve the deficit.
Town came out strongly after the break and began to apply sustained pressure on the hosts.
Their efforts were rewarded midway through the second half when Golding delivered an inch-perfect cross into the box, finding the onrushing Hutton, who powered a header beyond the goalkeeper to bring the Mariners level.
With Town continuing to press for a winner, they eventually found the breakthrough late in the game.
The Mariners’ pressure forced an error from the Blackpool defence and Hutton was on hand to capitalise, finding the back of the net from range with the goalkeeper out of position to complete the comeback and secure a 3-2 victory.
It was an impressive display of character from Town, who refused to give up after falling two goals behind and were rewarded with a deserved victory.
