Khouri Gets New Deal

Grimsby Town Football Club is pleased to announce that Evan Khouri has signed a new two-year deal with the Club.

The promising midfielder enjoyed a breakthrough season at Blundell Park in 2020-21, making eight first team appearances which included a string of impressive performances in League Two. The 19-year-old, however, struggled with injuries last season and was unable to force his way into Paul Hurst’s promotion-chasing side, only appearing on three occasions. The Academy graduate spoke to gtfc.co.uk about his delight at signing a new deal at Blundell Park and shared his hopes for the coming season.

“I’m extremely happy and privileged to sign my second professional contract with Grimsby Town Football Club, as I really believe the Club, and the town, are on the up and I want to be a part of it.”

“Last season was very special; our aim, right from the start was to achieve promotion back to the Football League and it’s incredible that we are now back where we belong. To witness all of this, in my first year as a pro, is something I will never forget.”

“I hope to have a good pre-season, stay injury free and impress the Gaffer and prove to him I’m capable of being in the squad.”

Town boss Paul Hurst also gave his reaction to Evan’s new deal.

“Evan is a young player, and we hold a lot of hope for him in the future.”

“Last season was a tricky one for him with injuries, after breaking onto the scene the previous season and doing well. I’m sure he’d have liked to have been involved more than he was, but he’s still a young player and we want to give these lads time to develop – Evan is one of those.”

“I’m looking forward to Evan coming back for pre-season, working extremely hard and staying injury free, and hopefully we can see him progress, along with some of the other younger players we have at the Club.”

Congratulations on your new deal, Evan!
