The Mariners bowed out of the Lincolnshire Senior Cup following a 3-1 defeat to Scunthorpe United at Bottesford Town’s Barrett Steel Stadium.
In the game that was played behind closed-doors, at the request of the home side, Jordan Davies got on the scoresheet as he continued his comeback, as Head Coach David Artell opted to field a team of First Team and Youth Team players.
17-year-old Seb Auton, who made his League Two debut away at Carlisle United earlier this season, started between the sticks, and two of his fellow Youth Team teammates made up a backline of Callum Storr, Finn Axcel, Doug Tharme and Matty Carson.
Curtis Thompson and Jordan Davies featured in the middle of the park, as they continued their return to action follow extended periods on the sidelines, along with Callum Ainley.
Rekeil Pyke started up front, with Cameron Gardner and Youth Team forward Henry Brown supporting him in the attacking roles.
The Mariner’s bench was made up entirely of Youth Team players, including Tom Rennardson who was on target for Neil Woods’ side on Friday night at Blundell Park in the second round of the FA Youth Cup.
