The Mariners are on the road tomorrow afternoon as Town travel to the EV Charger Points Stadium to face Cheltenham Town in Sky Bet League Two action.
David Artell’s side will be looking to return to winning ways after Tuesday’s 2-2 draw at Accrington Stanley, while continuing their impressive recent record against the Robins.
The Opposition
Cheltenham Town currently sit sixth in Sky Bet League Two, having collected seven points from their opening four league fixtures.
Steve Cotterill’s side began the campaign with a 2-1 victory over Rotherham United before a 2-1 loss to Ian Holloway’s Swindon Town. A 2-2 draw with Barnet then followed. They then produced an impressive 3-2 victory over York City on Tuesday evening.
The Robins have therefore scored eight goals in their opening three league matches, while conceding seven.
Cotterill’s side will now be aiming to make it three unbeaten in the league and continue their strong start to the campaign.
Mariners’ Start
Town remain unbeaten in their opening four League Two fixtures. The Mariners began the campaign with a 1-0 victory over Exeter City at Blundell Park before recording a goalless draw away at Walsall. A 2-2 draw at Blundell Park against Fleetwood Town followed.
Tuesday’s trip to Accrington Stanley saw Town establish a two-goal advantage, with Andy Cook among the scorers, but the hosts fought back to claim a 2-2 draw.
The point leaves Town with six points from their opening four league fixtures and unbeaten heading into tomorrow afternoon’s encounter. Artell’s side will now be looking to claim their second league victory of the campaign as they make the trip to Gloucestershire.

Today’s fixture will be the latest instalment in a competitive history between the two clubs, with Cheltenham and Grimsby having met 22 times competitively. The first meeting came in October 2004, when the two sides played out a 1-1 draw.
One of the most memorable encounters came in September last year, when Town hit the Robins for 7 at Blundell Park that left the visitors down to 9-men due to two red cards. The Robins have not defeated Town since 2018.
Grimsby have gone unbeaten in their last eight league meetings with Cheltenham, recording five victories and three draws during that run. That impressive record continued last season, when the Mariners recorded two victories over the Robins with an aggregate score of 9-1.
Town backed up the remarkable 7-1 victory at Blundell Park in September by completing the league double with a 2-0 success at the EV Charger Points Stadium in January 2026.

The most recent meeting between the two sides came at the EV Charger Points Stadium on 24th January 2026. Town secured a 2-0 victory in Gloucestershire, with Kieran Green opening the scoring in spectacular fashion with a 25-yard strike.
The Mariners defended resolutely as Cheltenham looked for a way back into the game before substitute Jaze Kabia added a second goal 16 minutes from time to secure all three points. The result gave Town a fifth consecutive league clean sheet and extended their winning run to four matches.
Town will be looking to produce another positive result at the same venue this afternoon.
