Match Preview & Information: Chesterfield (H)

David Artell previews the visit of Chesterfield

Preview

Next up for David Artell’s men is a clash against Chesterfield, who currently reside in 10th place in the Sky Bet League Two table, three points behind the Mariners.

Chesterfield gained promotion back to the Football League last season, finishing first in the National League with 98 points. This season, they have continued to pick up points and over their 24 matches played this season, have won nine, drawn seven and lost 8 times. Over their last five league games, they have lost in their last three, with their last wins coming against AFC Wimbledon and Carlisle United, respectively.

Chesterfield are managed by 57-year-old Paul Cook who had previously been manager of numerous clubs, most notably Portsmouth, Ipswich Town and Wigan Athletic and is currently in his second spell as Chesterfield manager, having previously spent time at the club between 2012-2015.

A key player for the Spireites will likely be Albanian attacking midfielder, Armando Dobra. The young attacker, who joined Chesterfield back in 2022, has played 93 times, scoring 22 goals. Beginning his career at Ipswich Town, the 23-year-old has netted six times this season and will likely be a key attacking outlet come Saturday.
