Next up for David Artell’s men is a visit from Swindon Town for the Mariners’ Good Friday fixture on home soil.
The Robins currently sit 12th in Sky Bet League Two and since the appointment of Ian Holloway as Manager in October, have gone from sitting just above the relegation zone, to one of the most in-form teams in the division, having won nine points out of a possible 12 in the last four games. Swindon have been a Sky Bet League Two side for four seasons, following their relegation from League One in 2021 after earning promotion to the third tier during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Over the 42 games played this season, Swindon have won 14, drawn 15 and lost 13 leaving them on 57 points and mathematically within a shout of the play-offs if results around them were to go their way. Their recent form has seen them only lose one game in their last ten outings and they currently sit second in the form table behind current league-leaders, Port Vale. An own-goal in the 95th minute on Saturday saw them overcome title-challenging Bradford City 5-4 in a thrilling encounter.
David Artell previews the visit of the Robins
Swindon are managed by 62-year-old Ian Holloway, who took charge of the Wiltshire Club in October and has since steered them away from the relegation zone and now has them sitting comfortable in the middle of the table and pushing to finish the campaign in the top half. Holloway is no stranger to Blundell Park, as he coached the Mariners in his last managerial role from December 2019 to December 2020. Other roles in his almost 30-year career have notably included Crystal Palace, with whom he took to the Premier League, Blackpool and QPR.
A key player for the visitors from the South-West will be striker Harry Smith, who signed for the club in the summer of 2024, after having previously featuring for the Club on loan in 2017. Smith sits joint fifth in the League Two goalscoring charts, with 15 goals to his name, including two in the club’s win over Bradford City last time out. The 29-year-old is a physical presence in the box, with his 6″5 stature allowing him to be strong in the air and he has amassed almost 300 professional appearances and scored over 75 goals.
Tickets for tomorrow’s game are incredibly limited, with only single-seated tickets remaining in the Upper and Lower, Main Stand and Pontoon.
Block C is now open in the Osmond Stand, so if you haven’t got your ticket yet, there’s still plenty of availability.
We’d like to encourage fans that can’t make it to the game, to release your seats, for those who are looking to buy a ticket and support the lads in what could prove to be an exciting end to the 2024-25 campaign.
Releasing your seat for an April fixture automatically enters you into a draw to be in with a chance of winning a signed GTFC matchball and also an end of season prize draw for the chance to win a 2025-26 Season Ticket.
Find out more on how to do this by clicking here.
How to swap your seat
Season Ticket holders who would like to take part in the seat swap and move their seats to the Osmond Stand for the game, need to log into their account online and access their ticket for the event ‘Swindon Town’. Next, select the seat in the Osmond Stand you would like to move to, confirming your age category and selecting the delivery method preference.
Once completed, your seat will have been swapped for the fixture and you can gain access on matchday with either a physical, mobile or e-ticket by using Turnstiles 9 + 10 at the top of Constitutional Avenue, between the Lower Stand and the Fan Zone.
Tickets can be purchased by coming into the Blundell Park Ticket Office or visiting our online Ticket Portal.
