Referee Watch | Notts County

David Webb will take charge of Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Notts County at Blundell Park (3pm).

Into his seventh season as a top flight referee, David has frequently been mistaken for Howard Webb over the years.

“Howard’s a lovely guy,” David said. “I’ve been fourth official with him once, in the Premier League, and some people even asked me if he was my dad. He used to get the confirmation letters of my appointments, before the days of email, and I’ve turned up at matches when the local press has written that it was Howard who was going to be refereeing.”

Mr Webb’s first Town game was back in 2008 when he refereed our Football League Trophy tie at Chesterfield, where the Mariners booked their place in the second round after a penalty shoot-out.

In 17 games this season he has shown 43 Yellow Cards and 1 Red Card.

He will be assisted by James Wilson and Michael George. The Fourth Official will be Ben Toner.
