Rose becomes first summer signing!

We are delighted to announce the signing of striker Danny Rose after agreeing an undisclosed fee with Stevenage.

The 29-year-old joins on a two-year deal after helping his former club to promotion from Sky Bet League Two last season, making 52 appearances for Stevenage, scoring nine goals in all competitions.

Rose spent two seasons with Northampton Town before joining Stevenage, one of which was in League One and he made 75 league appearances for the Cobblers across two seasons.

Prior to that spell, he enjoyed four seasons with Mansfield Town, including the 2017-18 and 2019-20 campaigns when he scored fourteen and eleven goals, respectively.

After securing the signature of the hardworking striker, manager Paul Hurst said: “We like Danny a lot and have for the last couple of seasons now. When you ask defenders who play against him, they say that he is a nightmare to play against.

“He’s not 6ft 5 but he’s very good in the air, he gives us a physical presence at the top end of the pitch. He’s perhaps not prolific in terms of numbers but, if you look at his career, he has been involved with teams at the right end of the division.

“He’s got a lot of know-how, a lot of experience and he can certainly bring a lot to the squad in the dressing room and at the training ground.

Rose himself added: “I’m over the moon and delighted. It’s something that has been in the pipeline for a couple of weeks now and as soon as I heard there was interest, I rang my agent and told him to get it over the line. Thankfully enough, here we are.

“This is a big club, a massive club for League Two and I’ve been fortunate to play for some big clubs in terms of Bury, Northampton, Mansfield and Stevenage and luckily enough, I’m now here at Grimsby. I can’t wait to get started!”
