Grimsby Town face Walsall at Bescot Stadium in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday (3pm).

Michael Jolley’s side had their Carabao Cup round two tie with Macclesfield Town abandoned due to heavy rain at Blundell Park on Tuesday.

And the Mariners will be looking to continue their good form and record their third league win of the season as they face Walsall this weekend.

Darrell Clarke’s side are winless in five games in all competitions, having not picked up a victory since the opening day.

And they will be aiming to get back to winning ways when Town travel to Bescot Stadium on Saturday.

Transfer business

The Saddlers had an extremely busy summer, with 15 new signings arriving at Bescot Stadium and 16 players leaving ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

Midfielder Stuart Sinclair and centre-half James Clarke followed manager Darrell Clarke in making the move from Bristol Rovers to Walsall.

Danny Guthrie, Caolan Lavery, Shay Facey, Gary Liddle, Elijah Adebayo, Zak Jules, and Mat Sadler also made the move to Bescot Stadium.

Andy Cook signed for Mansfield Town, Zeli Ismail made the move to Bradford City, and Morgan Ferrier and Kieron Morris signed for Tranmere Rovers.

One to watch

Central-midfielder Stuart Sinclair has started in all of Walsall’s six games in all competitions so far in 2019-20.

The 31-year-old made 161 appearances for Bristol Rovers between 2014 and 2019 before making the switch to Bescot Stadium this summer.

And the strong midfielder will be hoping to make his presence known against the Mariners this weekend.

Clarke went with a 3-5-2 formation as the Saddlers lost 3-0 away to Plymouth Argyle at Home Park last weekend.

Goalkeeper Liam Roberts had a back three of James Clarke, Dan Scarr, and Mat Sadler in front of him.

Cameron Norman, Stuart Sinclair, Gary Liddle, Liam Kinsella, and Callum Cockerill-Mollett made up the midfield, with Josh Gordon and Elijah Adebayo up front.

Last time we met in the league

Town haven’t faced Walsall in league competition since the two sides met in League Two at Bescot Stadium in January 2007.

Martin Butler scored either side of half time to ensure that Richard Money’s side – who went on to be crowned champions – won 2-0.
