We are inviting applications for the position of Head of Medical to lead the medical department for the Men’s First Team.

Based at the Club in Cleethorpes, this is a permanent position offering a competitive salary of £44,000 – £49,000 dependent on skills and experience, alongside a £5,000 relocation allowance.

As Head of Medical, you will lead the medical department for the Men’s First Team, providing clinical leadership and governance, ensuring players receive high-quality, evidence-based medical care.

This role will lead on the medical management of player injury and rehabilitation, assessment, treatment and ongoing clinical care. Working collaboratively with the wider coaching and performance teams, you will contribute to the development and implementation of evidence-based injury prevention and return-to-play strategies, supporting player availability and performance.

You will lead and develop the medical team, creating an environment where individuals are supported to grow their clinical expertise, leadership capability and professional development.

This is a role for someone who wants to make a genuine impact — not simply managing the medical provision but helping to shape how the Club approaches player health, injury prevention, rehabilitation and performance for the future.

The successful candidate will be supported in their continued development through opportunities for internal leadership development, relevant CPD and professional learning, including support for appropriate external courses, qualifications, conferences and development opportunities.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the medical programme for the Men’s First Team and supporting the wider player pathway where required.
  • Directing and shaping the Club’s medical strategy and processes.
  • Leading and managing first-team medical staff.
  • Overseeing the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of player injuries and illnesses.
  • Developing evidence-based return-to-play and injury prevention strategies.
  • Coordinating the daily management of injured players and providing objective updates on player availability.
  • Leading medical provision at all Men’s First Team fixtures.
  • Overseeing medical cover at training sessions and matches.
  • Leading medical risk assessments and pre-signing medical examinations for prospective players.
  • Maintaining high standards of medical governance, compliance and confidentiality.
  • Leading the Club’s medical testing and cardiac screening programmes.
  • Developing internal CPD opportunities for medical staff.
  • Building relationships with educational institutions to support student placement programmes.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • A BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy or Sports Therapy.
  • ATMMiF or equivalent Advanced Trauma Medical Management qualification.
  • Experience working in a medical role within a sporting environment.
  • Demonstrable expertise in clinical assessment and diagnosis, injury management, rehabilitation and return-to-play planning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • An FA Safeguarding Children Certificate.

Registration with the relevant professional governing body, a postgraduate qualification, experience in elite sport and previous experience in a senior or management role are desirable.
