Youth Team Held to Stalemate at Mansfield Town

Town’s Youth Team travelled to the RH Academy on Tuesday morning to face Mansfield Town, with a closely fought encounter ending in a goalless draw.

It proved to be a tightly contested affair throughout, with clear-cut chances at a premium at both ends. The hosts had the first opening of the game, firing over the crossbar from just inside the penalty area in the early stages. Town grew into the contest and matched Mansfield’s intensity, but defences largely came out on top in a disciplined and competitive midfield battle.

The Mariners’ best opportunity arrived midway through the second half. A dangerous delivery from Hatton found Sharp in the box, but his header drifted over the bar as Town looked to break the deadlock.

Despite both sides probing for a winner, neither goalkeeper was seriously tested in the closing stages, and the points were shared following a hard-fought 0-0 draw.

The sides will meet again this Saturday in the reverse fixture at Cheapside, with kick-off scheduled for 12pm.

Starting XI: Hayden Rogers, Kian Hawley, Kris Catchpole (85′ Carrick), Fortune Onoh, Charlie Elliott, Alex Graham, Harvey Booth (70′ Smith), Mamudu Jalloh, Carlo Midwinter (35′ Sharp), Charlie Hatton, Curtis Manyika (60′ Neagu)
