YOUTH TEAM REPORT | GRIMSBY TOWN 3-1 BRADFORD CITY

Our Youth Team got their second Youth Alliance Cup win of the season as they emerged 3-1 victors against Bradford City yesterday.

Following Saturday’s loss in the League away at Salford, Neil Woods’ side bounced back with an impressive performance on home soil.

Town started on the front foot and created multiple chances early on in the game.

The Mariners were awarded for their bright start when they took the lead through Jack Collins.

The ball came across to him in the box and he was able to confidently smash the ball into the back of the net to give the Mariners an advantage in the game.

Collins added a second not long after, with Alex Graham providing the assist to double Town’s Lead.

Town continued to create chances right up until the break and were unfortunate that the scoreline wasn’t more heading into the second 45 minutes.

The second-half started just as the first-half did for the Mariners, with plenty of goal-scoring opportunities coming their way.

The pressure early in the half paid off when Town made it three. This time it was Grayson Giles who provided an assist for Henry Brown to get the Mariners’ third.

Bradford fought to get back into the game and pulled a goal back with 70 minutes on the clock.

The Mariners backline held strong until the final whistle and Town came away with a deserved win.

The Mariners are next in action on Saturday when they welcome Shrewsbury to Cheapside.

Town: Rogers, Shipstone, Jalloh (Blankley, 70), Hatton, Storr, Graham, Collins, Foy, Giles (Midwinter, 80), Brown, Foster (Smith, 70)

Unused subs: Hawley
