The Mariners fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat to league-leaders Rotherham United on Saturday at Cheapside, despite taking the lead from the penalty spot.
Town made a great start to the game, controlling plenty of possession in the early exchanges and found themselves taking an early lead When Grayson Giles was fouled in the box.
Giles took the penalty himself and calmly dispatched it to give the Mariners a deserved lead.
Town continued to dominate possession but struggled to create enough chances with them having the upper hand.
Rotherham started to find their rhythm and put plenty of pressure on the Town backline.
The Ball found itself in the box on numerous occasions and the visitors were rewarded for their build up of pressure when a corner was headed home to level the score going into half-time.
The second-half was much of the same, with Rotherham having a handful of long-range efforts to try and gain an advantage in the game.
Town went close to taking the lead for the second time in the game through Carlo Midwinter, but it was Rotherham who took home the points when they smashed home from clos- range from another corner to win the tie.
Next up for Town is Doncaster at Cheapside next Saturday.
