Grimsby extended their unbeaten run to twelve with goalless daw at Doncaster in the Youth Alliance League on Saturday morning.
Town started the game strongly, they controlled possession dictating proceedings and creating openings, Cameron Gardner the most notable seeing an effort wide of the upright. Henry Brown was the next Mariner to have a go at goal his acrobatic effort suffered the same fate going wide of the target.
It wasn’t all one way traffic as the hosts then began to turn the screw, a number of free kicks and corners threatened the visitors but Town stood up to the test and prevented any clear cut chances for Doncaster.
Grayson Giles hit the side netting from range little before the break as Grimsby had another attempt at trying to break the deadlock before the break. The sides however, went into the interval level.
The second half saw few chances for either side.
Town saw a penalty appeal waved away as Brown went down under pressure but play continued with the officials unmoved.
Billy Bradley came closest to forcing the issue, seeing an effort from close range blocked on the line by a Doncaster defender. The visitors in the closing stages saw another penalty appeal waved away, Gardner broke clear, the forward was seemingly pulled down by a recovering defender, again the officials saw nothing doing and the game finished level.
Town’s next fixture is the FA Youth Cup Third Round clash with Nottingham Forest and Blundell Park on Tuesday 5th December, kick off 7pm.
