Youth Team Report | Young Mariners make it back-to-back wins

Our Youth Team made it back-to-back wins as Henry Brown’s strike saw them overcome Mansfield Town on home soil on Saturday afternoon.

The first-half was a tightly-contested affair until Brown pressed excellently to win the ball back from the Stags and pass the ball into an empty net to give the young Mariners the advantage and what turned out to be the only goal of the game.

At the other end, Seb Auton didn’t have many shots to face in between the sticks; the Mariners’ backline dealing with anything that came there way during the tie without much trouble.

Neil Woods’ side could’ve double their lead on numerous occasions in the second-half, but Alex Graham headed wide, and Elliot Smith’s effort was well saved by the Stags’ shot-stopper after a good period of build-up play.

Brown also looked to double the score in similar fashion to his first goal, but it was just the one goal that gave the Mariner the three points.

Next up for our young Mariners is their penultimate fixture of the season away at Morecambe on Saturday 26th April.

Town: Auton, Onoh, Carrick, Hatton, Graham, Jalloh, Foster, Smith, Midwinter, Brown, Booth
