Our Youth team were back in action on Thursday afternoon and had a deserved victory against Burton Albion at Bradley.
The young Mariners started well with Essel and Tomlinson having good chances to put Town ahead.
But Burton were coming more and more into the game and Goundry was alert to make a fantastic last-ditch tackle to keep the scores level.
Town continued to create their own chances but had to wait until the 60th minute to get the breakthrough. Tomlinson’s corner found the head of Goundry who powerfully beat the Burton keeper.
And soon after it was 2-0, when a fantastic move down the Town right saw Adlard’s inch-perfect cross finding Stratton to give the keeper no chance from close range.
Next up for Neil Woods’ side is a trip to Rotherham United on Saturday week.
