Match Preview | v Luton Town (A)

Paul Hurst takes his team to Bedfordshire tomorrow to take on Luton Town at Kenilworth Road in the Mariners’ first FA Cup Fourth Round tie in 23 years.

With two matches postponed in the last week, the match against the Skybet Championship club will be Town’s first in two weeks. With the hosts set to be favourites at 3pm tomorrow, Paul Hurst’s team will take on Luton looking for a first win on the road since the Second Round triumph over Cambridge United.

Here’s everything you need to know heading into the match.

Team News

Captain Luke Waterfall, absent against Burton Albion and Swindon Town, could be in line to return with Hurst earlier this week confirming that he has returned to training after a back issue.

Full back Danny Amos will sit out his one-match ban following his red card against Swindon. Anthony Glennon, who came off the bench in that match, is likely to return to the starting XI for the first time since facing Salford at Blundell Park in December.

John McAtee is unavailable to play against his parent club on Saturday while fellow loanee Mikey O’Neill is cup-tied after playing for Preston North End in the Third Round.

Luton Town

Tomorrow’s hosts currently sit seventh in the Skybet Championship and defeated Wigan Athletic in a Third Round replay to get to this stage in this year’s FA Cup.

The Hatters have lost once in their last ten matches in all competitions but their Championship home record could give the Mariners some hope with only three victories at Kenilworth Road to their name from thirteen matches.

Strikers Carlton Morris and Elijah Adebayo are currently Luton’s top scorers this season with the former scoring eleven goals in all competitions while the latter has scored in each of his last three.

Previous Meetings

The two teams have faced each other twenty-five times with each side winning nine. Our last win against Luton came in a League Two triumph in September 2016 when an Omar Bogle double helped the Mariners to a 2-1 triumph at Kenilworth Road. You can watch the highlights of that game HERE.

Referee

Tomorrow’s referee is Tim Robinson. The last time he refereed a Town match was all the way back in February 2012 when the Mariners won 2-1 away to Bath City in the Third Round of the FA Trophy.

He will be assisted by James Wilson and Lisa Rashid.

Coverage

Due to broadcast regulations of the Emirates FA Cup, the match isn’t eligible for live stream coverage on Mariners TV. However, subscribers will be able to access BBC Radio Humberside’s commentary as usual from around 2pm.

Highlights of the match will be available on Mariners TV and Youtube on Sunday.
