Grimsby Town Supports Foster Families with Complimentary Tickets for Fostering Bright Futures Campaign

Grimsby Town Football Club have issued hundreds of complimentary tickets to young people, social workers and foster carers for tomorrow’s game against Fleetwood Town.

The ticketing initiative announced on ‘World Care Day’, has been driven by the Club’s partnership with North-East Lincolnshire council’s ‘Fostering Bright Futures’ campaign, as part of the EFL Community Weekends activation taking place at tomorrow’s game.

Back in April 2024, the Mariners became the first business in North East Lincolnshire to sign-up to the foster-friendly scheme and continue to support the Council’s campaign.

On the partnership with the Club, Director of Children’s Services Anne-Marie Matson said, “Since day one the club have shown, through their actions and words, that they support care experienced children and young people in North East Lincolnshire. They have gone above and beyond to ensure that today is special, which I know means the world to the young people here.

GTFC is a club with community at its heart, it shouts loudly about the issues that matter in our county and sets a precedent for everyone to do the same. I can’t thank the club enough for getting behind the Fostering Friendly initiative and giving our children in care, foster carers and social workers a day to remember!”

In addition to the complimentary tickets in the Osmond Stand, youngsters from foster families have been chosen as flagbearers for tomorrow’s game and information encouraging fans to consider becoming foster carers will feature in the matchday programme and on the big screen.

Mariners Chief Executive, Polly Bancroft, added, “We were delighted to be the first business in North East Lincolnshire to sign up for the fostering friendly scheme back in April and wholeheartedly support the important work they are doing for vulnerable people in our community.”

“We’re looking forward to welcoming foster carers, social workers and their families to Blundell Park and for them to be part of our wider community celebration taking place tomorrow.

“We’d like to thank the 3Q Community Partnership Fund for subsidising the cost of these tickets for the fostering friendly families.”
