Grimsby Town Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder, Josh Benson on loan from Burnley until the end of the season.
The central playmaking, strong tackling midfielder becomes the second recruit from Burnley, joining fellow team mate Anthony Glennon who signed on loan earlier in the window.
Benson began his footballing career at Arsenal, where he had been part of the club’s Academy system since under-nine level. After completing his scholarship at the Gunners, Benson made the move to Burnley, penning a deal with the Clarets in July 2018.
A stand-out player for the club’s Under 23’s during the 2018/19 campaign, Benson was rewarded with a first-team squad call up, for their Premier League clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford in January 2019.
Benson will join up with his new manager and team mates tomorrow and will be eligible for selection for Saturday’s visit of Exeter City, for Ian Holloway’s first home game in charge of The Mariners.
