Mariners working in partnership with sports technology specialists

Grimsby Town FC are pleased to be working in partnership with training technology specialists, Hytro.

Hytro are the innovators behind revolutionary Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) wearable technology which allows athletes to prepare, train and recover quicker and more effectively than before. The sports technology brand already works with over 100 professional sports teams spanning the UK and the United States including Aston Villa, Rangers, Blackburn Rovers and Everton.

Grimsby Town’s Lead Physical Performance Coach, Greg Howard, said: “The benefits of blood flow restriction for pre-training preparation, rehabilitation and post-match recovery are well documented, so we are delighted to be in a partnership with Hytro for the 2023/24 season.

“Their product enables us to deliver BFR safely across the whole squad, and the research we are undertaking together will allow us to improve recovery between games and maximise the players’ physical output on the pitch.”

As part of the partnership, the club will take part in collaborative research on assessing Blood Flow Restriction training alongside a variety of recovery methods, aiming to elevate both athletic performance and recovery.

Tom Atkinson, Head of Pro Sport at Hytro said: “It has been great to be able to take part in this exciting research with Grimsby Town this season. Our aim has been to unlock invaluable insights that will not only elevate the team’s performance but also foster a holistic approach to their overall well-being.”
