Grimsby Town manager Michael Jolley says the Mariners have been working hard to return to winning ways against Cambridge United on Tuesday (7.45pm).

The Mariners face the Us at Abbey Stadium as they look to end their three-game winless run in the league.

And Town boss Jolley says his side will have to be at their best in both boxes in the match.

Speaking on iFollow Mariners, he said: “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out we must do better at defending free-kicks.

“So we’ve done some work on that and we’re going to continue with the work on it.

“But also we need to look at how Cambridge play and assess where they will try to hurt us, and see if we can nullify that.

“And of course we’ll try to find our own way of hurting them.

“I’ve said we want to be a team that improves and makes progress, and that’s really the extent of what I’ve said.

“And I think if you take it over the 13 games so far I think we’ve done reasonably well.

“Obviously we’ve been down to Chelsea in the Carabao Cup as well so it’s been a decent start from us.

“But the results haven’t been good enough in the last three games so we’re looking to play ourselves back into form as quickly as possible.”

Max Wright will be out for the game, while Ethan Robson will face a late fitness test ahead of the match.

And Jolley hopes the Mariners can get a home tie in tonight’s Emirates FA Cup first round proper draw – live on BBC Two (7pm).

He said: “I think a home draw would be good for us. Last season we got a home draw against MK Dons and I think that worked out well for us.

“And obviously we had a decent little cup run last year so I’m looking forward to the draw.

“Obviously we’ll take what we get, but it would be nice to think we could get a home draw.”
