PREVIEW | vs. Crawley Town (A)

After putting together a five-match unbeaten run in Sky Bet League Two, the Mariners travel to Sussex tonight to take on Crawley Town in our latest league match.

That unbeaten run has seen Town pick up three points apiece against Rochdale and Sutton United while also holding league leaders Leyton Orient and play-off-chasing Mansfield Town to draws ahead. Last time out, Paul Hurst’s Mariners were held to a 1-1 draw at Blundell Park by Walsall after Donervon Daniels’ second-half effort pegged Town back after Bryn Morris’ goal in the opening period.

Tonight’s journey is another long trip south to take on a Crawley side battling relegation while the Mariners look for a positive end to our first campaign back in the EFL.

Team News

No further injury concerns were picked up from Saturday’s draw against Walsall. Hurst continued with a rotation policy amid a hectic run of fixtures with midfielder Gavan Holohan and defenders Josh Emmanuel and Anthony Glennon among those moving out of the XI from the draw at Mansfield.

Left-sided player Owen Gallacher is nearing a return to action but tonight’s match may come too soon for him.

Crawley Town

Tonight’s hosts sit in 22nd place after climbing out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 home win against bottom-placed Rochdale in six-pointer on Saturday. Crawley are currently enjoying a four-match unbeaten run with wins against Harrogate Town and AFC Wimbledon coming before a 1-1 draw against Doncaster Rovers at Broadfield Stadium.

With a four-point advantage as well as a game in hand on Hartlepool United in 23rd, Scott Lindsay’s side will be able to sense survival ahead after a tough campaign. With 27 of their 36 points this term coming at their home ground, the Red Devils will no doubt prove a stern test for the Mariners tonight.

Dominic Telford is their top scorer with eight league goals to his name, the last of those coming in Saturday’s victory against Rochdale.

Referee
