Grimsby Town manager Michael Jolley hopes his players and the fans can pull together to beat Bradford City in Sky Bet League Two at Blundell Park on Saturday (1pm).
The Mariners started the campaign with an impressive 2-0 away win over Morecambe at the Globe Arena last weekend, thanks to second-half goals from Elliott Whitehouse and Max Wright.
Town face Gary Bowyer’s Bradford City in their first home league game of the season this weekend, with Blundell Park expected to be packed.
And Town boss Jolley says the Town players and fans will work hard as a collective to make it two league wins from two in the early kick-off on Saturday.
Speaking on iFollow Mariners, he said: “The reason you want to get involved in football is to try and win things, be successful, and be involved in big games.
“So whenever it’s a big club coming to Grimsby Town, I think that really brings out the best in our team and our fans.
“And I’m sure everyone’s going to pull together on Saturday, and give everything to try and get a good result.
“Bradford City are a very big club in this division – every time they’re in this league they’re expected to do well, and rightly so.
“They’ve got fantastic support, and a strong history, but so have Grimsby Town.
“We’re excited about the game on Saturday, I think it will be a good atmosphere in the stadium.
“I know our fans are going to get behind us, so we’re looking forward to the game.
“We just want to continue to build the level of performance that we’ve been working towards, and ultimately now it’s about trying to get results.
“We managed to do that last week. It’s our first home game, and we want to start off the season well at home.
“We won our last two home league games of last season so if we can pick up where we left off from there, we’ll be pleased.”
Jolley is still trying to make some more signings before the transfer window for League One and Two clubs closes on Monday, September 2 (5pm).
He said: “It’s the same position really – we’re still trying to bring some more players to Grimsby Town.
“The market is still open, even though it’s the deadline day for the Premier League and Championship.
“Our window is open slightly longer so we’re still working towards bringing in some more players.”
Liam Gibson may make the 18-man squad, while striker Harry Cardwell is likely to miss the game through injury.
