Grimsby Town Football Club can confirm that young goalkeeper, Ollie Battersby has joined National League North side, Gateshead on a short-term loan deal.

In a bid to gain valuable first-team experience, Battersby will join Gateshead for a one-month period, with the team currently sitting in 7th position in the National League North. Battersby will now be eligible for their away Boxing Day fixture vs. Blyth Spartans.

Battersby penned his first professional contract with the club in December 2018 after progressing through the Academy system, with a short spell at Sheffield United in between. He then made his professional debut for The Mariners in November 2020, during a 3-1 defeat at home to Leicester City U21’s in the Papa John’s Trophy.
