Grimsby Town Football Club are delighted to announce that Defender, Luke Hendrie has signed for the club on a permanent basis on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The 24-year-old originally joined The Mariners on loan in August 2018, with the original deal set to end next week but has now committed his future to the club until the summer of 2021.
Since joining the club, Luke has played an important role, featuring 26 times which included scoring his first professional goal during our 1-0 victory away at Carlisle United.
With Town having an issue with available defenders in recent fixtures, Hendrie’s versatility has proved important being able to fit in where needed at home to Mansfield Town and in our Emirates FA Cup Third Round tie away at Crystal Palace.
Michael Jolley has acted quickly during the transfer window, securing midfielder Elliot Embleton until the end of the season and now Hendrie becomes the third permanent signing following Sebastian Ring and Ludvig Öhman who have joined in recent days.
Speaking exclusively to gtfc.co.uk, manager Michael Jolley discussed his joy at securing the services of Luke for the next two and a half seasons. “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Luke to the club permanently. I knew when we brought Luke to Grimsby that we were bringing in a great professional and a great person into our dressing room”.
“We have worked very hard to secure Luke’s services permanently in a competitive market where other clubs wanted to sign him. I truly believe he is someone who can help us take the club forward in the years to come. I fully expect him to become a real leader for us in the future.”
“Welcome to Grimsby Town, Luke.”
