Huddersfield Town 2-1 Grimsby Town U18s – Youth Team Match Report

Neil Woods’s Grimsby Town youth team fell to two late goals as they lost 2-1 away at Huddersfield Town in the EFL North East Youth Alliance.

The young Mariners started the game well, creating a couple of chances through Joey Hope and Owen Davey which were well-saved by the Terriers goalkeeper.

Huddersfield then grew into the game and had some dominant possession without really threatening the Mariners’ goal.

Town opened the scoring in the 35th minute when some good individual play by Brandon McPherson saw him brought down in the box.

It was McPherson who stepped up and dispatched the penalty to give Town the 1-0 lead at half time.

The second half saw Huddersfield become much more dominant with possession but Town were holding out and catching the home side on the break.

Chances for Luis Adlard, Lennon Stead, and Joe Starbuck were all thwarted by the goalkeeper.

But the Town defenders were put under more pressure and they conceded two goals in quick succession late in the game.
